Game of Thrones season 8 is probably one of the most controversial seasons in the history of the show. The six-episode season was filled with twists and turns which became a little hard to swallow even for the most diehard fans. Plotting and churning out dynamic plans—sometimes smart and sometimes not so smart is nothing new for the characters of Game of Thrones but the final season takes the cake for leaving fans with the feeling that there have been countless decisions that are questionable: why would Jon let go of Ghost? Why did the scheming for the Battle of Winterfell fail so miserably? Why is there any expectation of loyalty in Westeros?

Here we’ve gathered some of the objectively worst decisions made in the final season. Read with utmost caution and at your own risk as it contains spoilers!

1. Mother of Dragons’ Dumb Move

Daenerys seemed to be the sure winner for the Iron Throne with her three dragons. One would seriously think the mighty Mother of Dragons would use her fire-breathing children to her advantage and avoid many catastrophes. Losing Rhaegal to a snare by Euron Greyjoy along with the Golden Company? Totally avoidable! Plus, losing Viserion to the White Walkers in season 7 was painful enough!

2. Wrong Positioning

Jon Snow is famous for knowing nothing but after being saved by Sansa in the Battle of the Bastards, you’d imagine that he’d learn to draw up a decent battle plan. His schemes against the White Walkers was filled with shortcomings, but the most major mistake was probably placing the Unsullied and Dothraki on the correlative side of the army’s fiery troughs and the safeguarding of Winterfell’s walls on the diverging. Honestly, lighting the destructive flames instantly and allowing the armies to gather wights as they clambered through the fires would have been a more fruitful plan.
